The 3 first articles of the international Constitution (Convent of 17-20 May 2012)
Members of the International Order of Co-Freemasonry, “LE DROIT HUMAIN” are spread out all over the world and, depending on the numbers of their members, are grouped together, as we have already said, in Federations, Jurisdictions or Pioneer Lodges.
These are the essential points:
“Freemasons of both hemispheres, members of the International Order of Freemasonry for Men and Women, “LE DROIT HUMAIN”, in loyal and grateful homage, conduct their labours under the inspiration of their venerated Founders: Maria Deraismes (the first woman to be initiated – on 14th January 1882) and Georges Martin.
With the example of these illustrious predecessors, and fraternally united in the love of Humanity, the Freemasons of the International Order of Freemasonry for Men and Women, “LE DROIT HUMAIN” wish to carry into effect both in masonry and in the outer world the triple motto “Liberty, Equality and Fraternity”.
Persuaded that the masonic method of work represents one of the best instruments for human perfection, they intend to continue their action by laying the basis of a broad International Masonic Constitution. This establishes the duties and rights of each and all, thus ensuring the maximum of liberty compatible with a voluntarily accepted discipline.
The International Order of Co-Freemasonry, “LE DROIT HUMAIN” affirms the equality of Man and Woman. Through its title “LE DROIT HUMAIN” , the Order proclaims its desire that men and women, throughout the world, shall be entitled in equal degree to the enjoyment of social Justice within a Humanity organised in free and fraternal societies.
Composed as it is of Freemasons, men and women, fraternally united without distinction of ethnic, philosophical or religious order., the Order prescribes, with this end in view, a method of working which is both ceremonial and symbolic, by means of which its members build their Temple to the Perfection and Glory of Humanity.
In addition to respecting independence from all religious institutions and organisations and all beliefs concerning survival or non-survival after death, its members seek, above all, to realise the greatest possible degree of moral, intellectual and spiritual development for all people. It believes this to be the pre-requisite for all happiness attainable by each individual, in a fraternally organised Humanity”.
In other words :
The International Order of Freemasonry for Men and Women, “LE DROIT HUMAIN” is an initiatory, philosophical, secular and philanthropic institution whose aim is to work for the progress of Humanity.
On the individual level, it strives “to promote the progress of individual worth, without the imposition of dogma, or exacting the abandonment of cultural or religious ideas”.
And on the group level “it works to unite men and women who agree on a humanist spirituality whilst respecting individual and cultural differences”.
