This excellent exhibition, which collates references to women and their role in freemasonry, also features Annie Besant's sash and gauntlets, which are on loan to U.G.L.E. by kind permission of the British Federation of the International Order of Co-freemasonry, Le Droit Humain. This is the first time in recent memory that these highly prized items have been on view to the public. The items on display include regalia, books, magazines, charters, diplomas, books and photos.
Admission is free. This is a unique opportunity to see items covering the involvement of women in freemasonry from the french lodges d'adoption to the present day, including many items about Le Droit Humain and various feminine Orders of freemasonry in this country.
The exhibition marks the centenary of The Order of Women Freemasons (originally known as the Honourable Fraternity of Antient Masonry) which was formed on 5 June 1908, by former members of the Droit Humain.
