DO FREEMASONS BELIEVE IN A GOD OR GODS?

The different Federations, Jurisdiction and Pioneer Lodges that make up our international Order can choose if they wish to work to the Great Architect of the Universe and/or to the Perfection of Humanity.

Since its foundation, the British Federation has followed the United Grand Lodge of England in its tenets and approach to Freemasonry. All Lodges and Chapters in the Federation work to the Great Architect of the Universe and the Federation asserts the existence of a Creative Principle. This principle is not defined but is left to the particular religious preferences of each individual. A Volume of the Sacred Lore (a bible and books of other religions or belief systems) is always open at a Lodge meeting. On this, obligations are taken, and the common principles of brotherly love, relief and truth are affirmed.

Whatever the term or definition, the purpose of initiation into Co-Freemasonry is to co-operate with the Supreme Will in evolution.
